Do You Have Any Puppies? How do I get on your waitlist?
We do not maintain a wait list for puppies. Please keep an eye on our "litters" page of our website for announcements. Once we announce that puppies are confirmed, fill out our puppy application, and tell us all about yourself and your family!
What happens once I fill out your puppy application?
Please give us as much detail as possible when you fill out your puppy application. Remember, this is usually our first opportunity to interact with you and get to know you and your family. Your puppy application tells us a lot about you including the type of home you live in, your family members, your hobbies, your lifestyle and your plans and expectations of a puppy. Based on this information, we will short list applicants.
All of our short-listed applicants go through a detailed in-person (or video) interview process as well as a home check, reference checks, and a veterinary clinic check. We do not start this part of our vetting process until our puppies have had a chance to grow up a little bit, usually around three weeks of age.
If I am short-listed, then am I guaranteed a puppy?
We work very hard to match each of our puppies with the family that is best suited to that puppy's temperament, drive and energy level. We formally evaluate structure, temperament, drive and energy level at 7 to 8 weeks. This evaluation factors heavily into our final decision on where to place puppies. Our goal is to place puppies for life. That means, if we don't have the right puppy for you and your lifestyle, even if we think you are fabulous, you will have to wait a little longer for a puppy.
I don't live in Alberta. Will you ship my puppy?
We do not ship puppies cargo unattended. If you are interested in adding one of our puppies to your family, we either require you to come to visit us to pick up your puppy and travel home with your puppy OR to arrange for a puppy travel nanny.
Who are you breeding? Can I meet the parents?
All of our breedings will be announced on our website under the "litters" page. We will provide a photo of each parent, along with their pedigrees and health testing.
Our dogs live with us in our homes as members of our family. For reasons of security, we do not accommodate random visits to "meet Mom and Dad". We are always pleased to provide you with additional photos or videos if you are interested. Our stud dogs are often from out of country, and therefore, it is typically not possible to meet the sire of the litter.
Do you crop and dock your puppies? Is it possible to get a natural eared puppy?
All of our puppies are cropped and docked.
Tail docking and dewclaw removal must be done with a veterinarian in Saskatchewan and are completed in the early days of the puppy's life. We do not sell puppies undocked.
Cropped puppies are at an added expense for the purchaser. Cropped puppies are not sent home until ears are fully healed and in their first posts. All owners are provided with lessons on taping/posting cropped ears. We are always available for advice should challenges arise with posting. We will also provide you with mentors to help you with taping/posting in your area, if you live far away from us.
How much do your puppies cost?
Pricing may vary based upon the breeding in question, but in general, our puppies start at $3500 (not including cropped ears). Additional price for a crop is typically $1000 per puppy. We accept a deposit per puppy of $1500 once we have confirmed your family's suitability for one of our available puppies.
There is NO difference in pricing between a pet puppy and a show or performance prospect puppy. All of our puppies are raised the same way, with the same love and care and elbow grease. Our puppies are raised first and foremost to be exceptional family members and good canine citizens.
What do I get for my money?
All of our puppies are raised in our home, not a facility or kennel. We closely monitor our puppies to ensure they are safe, comfortable, healthy, eating well and gaining weight. We are always beside the whelping box (day and night) for at least the first three weeks of their life.
We dedicate the time that our puppies are with us to introducing them to all aspects of life - we want to ensure that our puppies are balanced in mind and body. We regularly handled our puppies, including cleaning teeth and ears, and doing nails every two to three days. We use Early Neurological Stimulation from the time our puppies are born. We provide a variety of scents, sounds and tactile sensations at all stages of life including ENS (early neurological stimulation) when our puppies eyes are still closed! We introduce puppies to a variety of foods, following on walks, cars, and many strange sights and sounds. We raise our puppies by AVIDOG protocols to ensure our puppies are provided with appropriate physical and mental stimulation at the appropriate development stages. Our puppies are always carefully socialized, although this is much more challenging in covid times!
Prior to going home, puppies are cropped, docked, and have their dewclaws removed. Our puppies are checked by our veterinarian at least once, and have received their first vaccination (following our protocol), been dewormed and microchipped.
You receive a detailed puppy "binder" which contains a copy of your contract and Canadian Kennel Club Registration papers, copies of the parents' health information, certification for both dam and sire, pedigree information, articles on the Doberman breed, and helpful tips for training. We will provide you with food samples to transition your puppy to their new food, as well as a collar, and a toy and blanket from home to assist them with the transition away from the dam and their littermates.
You receive a lifetime of breeder support. We will keep in contact with you for the life of your puppy. We love when you send us pictures, cute stories, or share your achievements with your pup. We encourage you to join and be an active member of our private owners group on Facebook, where you can share your experiences and pictures, and ask questions in a safe environment amongst other owners and us as breeders. You can email us at any time with questions or concerns, and we will be there for you! We are dedicated to the Doberman Pinscher breed, and to every single puppy we produce.
If you can't keep your puppy for any reason, at any point in its lifetime, we will take it back - in fact, we require this commitment from our puppy owners.
We are here for you for the lifetime of your puppy.
